How is this different from prompt engineering?
Prompt engineering is how you phrase the instruction. Context engineering is which facts the AI has when it answers.
How is it different from RAG?
RAG fetches passages that resemble the question, and can miss a fact worded differently. This also covers how facts connect and where they came from.
Do I need a context lake?
Not for a small trial on a few documents. It helps once answers cross many sources and others need to check them.
